Sobre
The program has a minimum length of 36 months and is organized into 5 guiding units and 1 integrating unit. The length of each unit is approximately 7 months while the integrating unit is developed in parallel throughout the entire program. The theoretical seminars on the guiding units are intensive and take place during 1 Saturday per month from 9 am to 4:30 pm. The Integrating unit takes place twice a month in 2-hour seminars each. All theoretical material for each seminar is provided in PDF or web links. All theoretical seminars are recorded and made available for 10 days on the program's virtual platform. This recording resource is for eventual absences or even for those who want to review the seminar. The availability of the recordings is not intended to offer the flexibility of not attending the seminars and just watching the videos. Our program is hybrid. In other words, personal analysis and supervision are done in person and, all theoretical parts are done online, in live seminars through our digital platform and therefore requires virtual presence from everyone enrolled in the program. The participation requirement includes theoretical seminars, analytical listening meetings, clinical cases seminars and all other theoretical sessions and discussion activities. 75% presence on each unit is required. Over 25% of absences implies failing the unit. In this case, the entire unit must be taken again.
Detalhes
The New England Institute of Psychoanalysis has as its ideal, the post-freudian and modern thinking of psychoanalysis. This view contemplates modern practices and thoughts that expand the knowledge and clinical perspective. The theory and analytical techniques aim the integration of psychoanalytic thinking with the historicity of psychoanalysis development, and with the modern reality of the theoretical approaches of several contemporary schools of thoughts.
Our proposal is for a contextual basis that dialogues with different areas of psychoanalytic knowledge. Therefore, a variety of thoughts will be explored throughout the program and developed specifically in the theoretical seminars and analytical listening sessions. Considering the broad aspect of Psychoanalysis thoughts, the program will adopt clear language and recent and relevant bibliography for a consistent knowledge experience in the training process.
Psychoanalysis was never exclusive to certain fields of knowledge or academia and it was also never a specialization of certain professions. Psychoanalysis in its theoretical diversity has always been unique in its therapeutic approach: "free association". It was Freud who in 1926 wrote "The Question of Lay Analysis" making clear that psychoanalysis is not a property of specific fields of knowledge and that psychoanalysts training is a non-academic degree, but rather, a re-signification process structured on three pillars: initially and essentially in personal analysis, theoretical seminars and supervision of clinical cases. Freud writes the text mentioned in defense of a psychoanalyst in Berlin who had only a high school diploma, Melaine Klein, and even without a college degree, became one of the greatest theorists of psychoanalysis. In addition to Melanie Klein, other great figures in psychoanalysis such as Anna Freud, Freud's daughter, who also only had a high school diploma, became exponents of psychoanalysis without having an academic background as many thought they should have.

Análise pessoal e supervisão
Personal analysis and supervision of clinical cases have been part of the psychoanalyst's training since the first psychoanalysts. Considering that psychoanalytic training is not an academic program, but a formative process, in the training program there is no school evaluation model such as written tests or exams.
The individual finds their evolution and formative learning through their experience in theoretical seminars, in the analytical listening group seminars, in the textual production of papers and other writings required, in the presentation of clinical cases, in personal analysis and in supervision. To submit to personal analysis and supervision is to integrate the basic structure of the training process. These three elements are indispensable and non-negotiable in the program. 300 personal analysis sessions and 150 Supervision sessions are recommended, however, to fulfill the minimum program requirements (including theoretical seminars, analytical listening group seminars and paper writings), 150 personal analysis sessions and 50 supervision sessions are the minimum required to complete the program.
During the admission and program registration process, the program coordination will advise on the details regarding the analysis and supervision. As our program is offered in a hybrid model, that is, the theoretical part offered virtually and personal analysis and supervision in person, NEIPSY does not institutionally offer personal analysis or supervision in view of having analysts in training from different parts of the world, but we guide and help individuals in training to find psychoanalysts in their area of residence who hold psychoanalytical training credentials to serve as their analysts and supervisors. After identifying the analysts for individual analysis and supervision and verifying their credentials, the analysts in training will receive the appropriate forms to document their individual analysis and supervision. The analyst for personal analysis cannot be the same for supervision. The analyst in training is responsible to pay their personal analyst and supervisor directly. It is recommended to conduct personal analysis with one or two analysts.
It is common to have analysts in training who continue their training process beyond the 3 years of the program. The grace period to complete the program is 2 years. In this case, all analysts in training continue to be in the process until everything is completed. Therefore, NEIPSY offers a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 5 years to complete the entire training process.
Leitura e Produção científica
Considering the formative character of the Psychoanalysis Program, which does not involve pass/fail assessment methodology, but integration and analytical development, each theoretical seminar will use relevant material (papers/books) for the content to be worked on and as a bibliographic basis for study and research in the interregnum of theoretical seminars and analytical listening sessions. In addition to papers and books, Freud's complete writings and other classic texts by other authors will be used. In the case of analytical listening seminars (meetings to discuss Freud's classical clinical cases, other clinical cases in classical literature and modern clinical cases aligned to theoretical discussions), all participants must read and study the assigned materials for a better understanding of the contents and thematic discussions. Reading and researching are fundamental in the process of developing the program in psychoanalytic training. It is estimated that between one theoretical seminar and another and the analytical listening seminars, each participant should read around 100 to 200 pages.
Each participant is required to produce a unit general paper referring to the contents developed in all theoretical seminars. The purpose of each paper is to lead the individual to a deeper reflection on the themes worked as well as to assist in the continuity of studies without the participant losing the connection of content in the unit's seminars. The personal discipline of researching and writing work will contribute to a better epistemological understanding in the program development process.
All papers must be written based on the literature of the live seminars, without cover, 1.5 spaced, Times New Roman 12 font. The title and subject must be chosen from the literature worked in the unit's seminars. NEIPSY offers academic writing support for those who need. Also, every unit, 2 special seminars on academic writing will be offered. Tutorial support is also offered by our academic writing specialist in the digital platform to help developing papers.
